I don’t know how to use the tool and only used it once because the developer of ROXTerm more or less taught me how to apply some commands. But this tool, like all tools, has limitations.
If it’s possible to not restrict the volunteer translator’s freedom to add new paragraphs when necessary, then the “po4a” is worthwhile. However, when something prevents the volunteer translator from doing their best on the text that will be read by native speakers of their language, then it means that the volunteer translator’s freedom has been taken away.
Because we have to consider that the volunteer translator is the living being who will make the text understandable to other living beings who speak the same language. Furthermore, each language has particularities and needs that cannot be limited by the number of characters or paragraphs, even more so in the antiX Help texts.
The most important thing is that the Help texts can actually be useful to the largest possible number of people. Otherwise, the Help will only serve for someone to say, “There’s Help, so why don’t you read it?” The worst response we can receive is, “The Help text is so poorly written that it’s useless and doesn’t help anyone”.
