    I’ve run into this situation experimenting with xfce & thunar. The problem (as I see it) is that thunar (and xfce) wants to hide the essential root tools from the user, as if their target user is a lunk-head who doesn’t deserve to use their own computer…

    So, the easiest way (IMO) is to use antiX’s “Run..” dialog (gexec) from the main (root) menu, and run thunar with the box checked to run as root.

    Or just use zzzfm instead of thunar. There is a menu option from zzzfm’s “file” drop-down menu, to open zzzfm as root.

    Also, to mount/unmount an external device using xfce installed on antiX-core (if that’s your setup), you can type ‘pmount /dev/sdb1’ or ‘pumount /dev/sdb1’ from the xfce “Run” dialog in the applications menu. Just make sure pmount is installed.

    And, of course, there is always the terminal — run ‘sudo thunar’ or ‘sudo umount /dev/sdb1’.
