    A quick path I would take to narrow down:
    I would download MX 25 ahs and run as Live usb. If runs fine with GPU acceleration then a difference in firmware/drivers and kernel would be something to look at.
    I have many laptops and on some I had to upgrade kernel to run properly. On one I had to switch from runit to another init.
