What invites me to different inits, way beyond RAM, is the ability to easily trim the fat of services I don’t need.
This adds to my own appreciation of the progress we’ve made with both runit and dinit, both of which our developers worked on diligently to provide us with mature service managers for both of them. An excellent personal example of this is how easy it is with runit and dinit to reduce the default number of tty getty/agetty devices are started. These can be efficiently managed with our final release; I observed major improvements in these features between the middle of the 25/26 project and the completion of the release in March!
