I think the “lock screen” christophe is talking about is actually slimski, not xlock. I could be wrong about that, but having X crash and return the user to slimski when they disable screen blanking is something that’s been reported here a couple times already for antix-26.

Thanks for that explanation in the referenced post. I tried the possible work-around, but desktop-session.conf “re-added” the default entry and that must be overriding that startup command. So it still logs me out at screen-blank time. I set it at max (119 minutes), and I wont try to re-encode a video file unattended on this old 32-bit machine anymore! (I’ll keep it to short-term activities with plenty of interaction.)
No worries. I’m just glad I don’t have to expect that to happen on my more modern machines, according to what you wrote.
