    Yes you’re absolutely right Brian. I have never tried Ungoogled Chromium with more powerful processors, but will do that now, having initially seen the result for myself with the Asus. The funny thing is, I am “blessed with a much more power powerful processor” with the i3 and i5 machines listed in my signature, and am curious to investigate the difference that UC will make to them.

    I have to admit that half the fun of it has been the challenge of trying to improve streaming quality on the old Asus, learning useful stuff along the way from very knowledgeable folk on this forum, who put me in the shadow any day of the week with their advanced technical skill-set.

    It sounds crazy and a bit weird I know, but I’m really attached to this ‘Asus dinosaur’ – it’s served me well – it’s become a bit like a faithful friend with all the admin work I’ve done on it for the last 18 years. Also, I’ve invested a significant amount of cash in it, e.g. kitting it up with 2 x 4TB Sata-SSDs internal drives (one for actively used data files, other for Timeshift backup). Even if I was to replace the Asus with a more modern laptop, I wouldn’t be able to use the existing 2 x Sata-SSDs as internal drives as these have now become obsolete, being replaced by the more compact nvme-SSDs over the last 10-15 years. So I want to get my money’s worth out of the Asus, for as long as possible. With antiX-26 installed, the Asus should last to the 23-year-old stage unless it dies naturally of old age before then!
