I ran into a very similar problem today (Ethernet connection active, internet lost). I found an even simpler solution that doesn’t require editing /etc/network/interfaces or /etc/connman/main.conf . I’m sharing it here in case it helps others.

Here’s what worked for me:

Steps:

• Connect to both your Wi‑Fi and wired network.
• Open cmst (Connman UI).
• Go to the first tab (Status). You’ll see three sections.
• In the third section (Services), locate your connected networks.
• Click on your Wi‑Fi network.
• At the bottom of the window, click “Move before”.
• From the selection menu, choose your Ethernet network.

After doing this, your Wi‑Fi network becomes the first entry in the Services list. That effectively gives it higher priority for internet routing – no config file changes needed.
