@mikey777 I don’t know if you are thinking of the same distribution that I am, but one of my favorite two or three script developers – some of you may know @h2 – used to work on a distribution that had many European developers who had very good technical skills, but they were sharp mouthed – it’s possible that it may have been the same one. Anyway, @h2 left that effort and has never contributed to it again, but he’s done some FANTASTIC work that he shares to this day with numerous distributions. If you are familiar with inxi, that’s one of his tools; the pinxi variation is the development version of that same tool. Another one is smxi – that’s the first one I became familiar with a LONG time ago, and I got into inxi from grabbing tools originally shared in smxi.

Anyway, the nature of some people, fortunately, has NOT stopped the creativity of developers. Linus Torvalds has been rather “snippy” at times over the years; I seem to recall that he was recommended for some kind of “sensitivity training”; don’t personally know the complete accuracy of that. I’ve heard him speak (in person) one time during the 1990s and he’s an excellent speaker with a very good sense of humor. In the very early 1990s his Finnish accent was more pronounced than when I heard him in the mid to late nineties.
The point of all of this is that in spite of the irritability of some people, we can always find many others who are kind and helpful; for the most part here (with a rare exception here and there), we have it here; as for those “rare exceptions”, hopefully they were just part of a “difficult day”; at least that’s what I prefer to “think” – I try to be positive whenever possible (unless I happen to be having a “surly day” myself, in which case I write very little, and occasionally I’ll delete something I wrote if it touches a nerve (or I find it to be less that appealing myself)!
People like you – and many others – I can recall numerous very positive notes over a long span of time. Hopefully that will continue for many of us!
