It’s a weird weather day here in the greater Greenville, South Carolina area. This morning, it was already “warm”, with temperatures of 72 °F just after 7 AM this morning.
Early this afternoon temperatures were already in the middle eighties. I was in an exercise class between 1-2 PM. When the class started the sunshine was out. Halfway through the class the wind picked up and it started to rain for a short time, then it stopped. Before the class ended, most of the rain, at least on the pavement, had already evaporated!
Looking out as I write this, just before 3:30 PM, I can see a gentle movement of the trees, dry conditions outside, but a chance of additional storms ahead. However, the morning local weather forecast indicates that even though SOME areas may receive significant rainfall, as much as 2-4 inches, other areas may not receive any rainfall at all. Given that we already got a little bit, it’s likely that we get at least a little bit more, but will we get a sprinkle, a shower, or a downpour? I guess we’ll just have to see exactly how the wind blows as the full system arrives. Here’s the thing: the “primary flow” of the storm from the West is to our North, so the southern part of North Carolina is fairly certain to get a good dose of rain; for us, we “might” get it; I’ll see if their forecast has become any more “accurate” as this system approaches, because it’s SUPPOSED to be in our area between 3-4 PM and continue overnight.

Winds N at 10 to 15 mph.From what I’m seeing, and I’ve now reviewed NWS (National Weather Service), Accuweather for Travelers Rest, SC, Weather.com, and Wunderground.com plus WYFF 4 weather and the highest percentage of precipitation in ANY hour of the day is only 59% and the amounts, INSTEAD of 2-4 inches, are more like 0.01 to 0.1 inches, not much more than a scattered shower, and even that isn’t more than a fifty-fifty chance. At least the ground won’t get scorched; we’ve already had a few drops of rain!
