Hi skidoo,
the programs (xmms) that come with antiX look for audio in the /media/cdrom folder by default
as shown in the fstab output
/dev/cdrom /media/cdrom iso9660 noauto,exec,users,ro 0 0
and simply creating the folder as shown above fixes all of the media
players. vlc is not on the default install iso.
also for newer pcs I had to change the preferences and alsamixer
settings to generic audio instead of hdmi to get sound.
Also thx for pointing out users can have automount/play enabled.
