If you want to have the best of both worlds, what I do is have a menu entry (or you could do so with a hotkey) for launching firefox in private mode, so that doesn’t affect any of the saved tabs in the non-private (normal) mode.
The command to launch firefox-esr in private mode (as you all probably know) is:
firefox-esr --private-window
You can also use the run function or the terminal if you dislike launch icons.
