    Using Connman
    ConnMan can be used in two different ways, either with Network Menu found from the panel or via a command-line tool called cmcc , both are in indicator-network package.

    indicator-network package is only available in ubuntu (no debian package), but I think it is dead. You do not need cmcc to run connman with ofono.

    I cannot test it out, as I have no 3G USB modem, but at least it seems that, after you install ofono, restart connman (sudo service connman restart) and, in the connman gui, you should be able to see a new Tethering or 3G or ofono option. If it doesn’t appear, try un-plugin and re-plugging the 3g modem.
    If nothing works, you could try reading connman man page, ofono man page.

    This guy says (2018) that once ofone is running, when connecting the 3g modem, connman auto-connects. So, for you, it should be extremely easy if what this person says is true.
