I made a fresh install of Antix-17.4. I changed the repos from stable to testing.
If I am not mistaken, the correct process if first update to buster and then move to testing.
Anyway, after changing the repo, did you dist-upgrade and reboot? Did everything work before the apt-get install –reinstall smplayer smplayer-themes or did you do all of this before rebooting?
This week seems that is going to me a nightmare for me, so I won0t have much time for the forum. As this is an experiment you are trying, let us know how it goes if you get to fix it.
Note that the nosystemd flag is missing, which I didn’t notice at the time. Why is it that a new installation has a wrong debian.list???
The debian list is correct. The only list that needs the nosystemd tag is antix.list I don’t know what magic anticapitalista has used, but it seems that the antix.list is the one that controls the debian repo systemd on a leash.
Quite unrelated, but maybe someone can help me with that too. Somewhere along the way the icons in Control Centre change from the very nice Faenza type (which is supposedly the default for Antix17) to the downright horrible Papyrus. It’s not that important, but if possible, I would like to avoid it.

This user, however, overcomplicated some things (I was able to “fix” the antixcc.sh in about 10 minutes or less.
I am going to share the file here. Decompress, open the antixcc .sh file in a text editor.
Now open in an editor (with root privileges) the file usr/local/bin/antixcc .sh
copy the content (all) from my file to yours. That should fix all icons (I think).
Note: you may have to edit also the desktop-session-exit file, but it should be easy, as those icons are in antiX-faenza in /usr/share/icons, so just edit the icon path to there.
