Your answer to herbstluftwm was a bit too agresive. You could also have loged out from it (Super+Shift+q) and loged in to a different window manager. Then you could decide if you really wanted to kill herbstluftwm.
Your problem is not with grub, but with Slim loging you in to a non existent herbstluftwm.
When the login manager appears again (when normalbooting to antix) Hit the F1 key to change the session to a different session before loging in.
Asuming you only uninstalled herbstluftwm and nothing else, SLIM display manager should come up and give you the option to log in. If this doesn’t happen, let us know and we will try to guide you to fixing the antiX session.
P.S. ice desktop was not in the Desktop menu from scratch, but Fluxbox seemed to work well.
Once you return to your normal antiX session, do this in terminal:
sudo apt install --reinstall desktop-session-antix
