    I’m not sure if you can retrofit both an older kernel AND an older graphical X server with a current version of software.
    You *could* try snagging an old kernel (or even copying one) from another server or an old distribution and see if the old kernel will provide the desired results with the rest of the current software.

    It would certainly be a kludge – an experiment, a hack, something that doesn’t carry with it a great amount of certainty.
    On the other hand it COULD be an excellent learning opportunity.

    Anyone in the community here able to snag one of those old kernels and try it out? BobC, do you have the Slitaz build on the same system and is it possible to try it out, copying it to an antiX system as an alternate kernel and see what fireworks erupt?
