    Please also how you are connected to the TV. Ie input/type.

    VGA DVI or HDMI. On DVI I was hit more than once with a bad cable.
    If able and have not done so already try other port type .
    Worth checking:
    The TV may report wrong capability. which caused that issue.
    That was on the system I am using now. LG Monitor not TV
    but would only run low res until I used a new DVI cable.

    You are best served with DVI or HDMI.
