    Thanks everyone! This has been a useful discussion. At first I was mainly interested in moving my antiX installation as that is by far the operating system I’ve tweaked the most. Reinstalling windows is a hassle with all the mandatory upgrades, but I wouldnt lose much in the way of custom config. But having read the above comments I’m tempted to just dd the whole drive. Resizing the partitions afterward is probably the main drawback.
