    With chromium I tried to use the site: http://www.nhm.ac.uk/wpy/gallery/2016-night-blow?tags=ed.5. It was painfully slow – CPU on fire but with minimal memory usage. With Firefox it was just fine.

    I’m not sure. But I noticed a while ago that FirefoxESR seems to work on non-SSE2 systems just fine. It may have something to do with SSE2/SSE3. Chromium wants SSE3. FirefoxESR doesn’t seem to care.
