    Actually, I was trying to enter cups as user. Entering as root, I can add the printer, but still can’t get it work. I remember I had created a relevant topic at the old forum, but I can’t find it.

    About scanner, I installed sane and sane-utils, edited /etc/default/saned (turned “RUN=no” to “RUN=yes”) and rebooted, but then:

    $ scanimage -L
    device `hpaio:/usb/HP_LaserJet_M1319f_MFP?serial=N8603DV’ is a Hewlett-Packard HP_LaserJet_M1319f_MFP all-in-one
    master@desktop:~
    $ scanimage > image.pnm
    scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/HP_LaserJet_M1319f_MFP?serial=N8603DV failed: Error during device I/O
