And this is part of the secret what makes antiX that fast and stable on even week machines. Instead of running heavy and resource wasting full »desktop environments« with all their hidden background tasks and services, this is built up by a very sophisticated and well thought out selection of single components, only using the amount of resources actually needed to run something properly. (Fast machines profit from this strategy also, not wasting a good pint of their power for pointless OS internal management tasks like a bloated public or enterprise administration)
