I went overboard on such a script (my first major script). It uses YAD to allow you to adjust gamma correction for the daylight mode and color temperature and dimming for the nighttime mode. Here’s the dialog for setting the parameters (hope I linked the attachment properly):
The script allows all parameters to be set from the command line as well.
I was beat by the time I got the script adequately debugged so it has some inconsistent documentation and commentary. I was waiting to publish until I had the energy to clean that up.
I am using, as a smart terminal, antiX 22 on a T42 because Mesa in subsequent releases does not support its Radeon Mobility GPU.
fanantix: I don’t see the script itself attached to your post, just the screenshots. This might sound silly, but if you create a .zip file with the script, screenshots and documentation inside, the forum will allow you to upload it and people can download it. I’ve never messed with the screen colors like this myself, and don’t really understand the problem razbone is having, but that’s ok, we are here to help, and over time as little things get added or improved antiX improves for everyone. I’m an old green screen guy, so having any colors at all looks good to me!
If razbone could test your solution, he could give you some feedback on what’s good or bad about it. antiX has a “goodies” package that includes lots of useful little scripts that people have created. Ones that people like and use occasionally, that don’t required installing other programs are the kind that tend to get added to it. Take a look at what’s in that package and look at what’s included and how they are organized and written, and if possible tweak yours to fit in nicely like it belongs.
razbone: Please let us know what suggestion worked best and why, and on the ones that weren’t as good or didn’t work, what was wrong with them.
