    Remove the directory /root/. synaptic.
    Beta 2 does not allow this because the root directory has 700 permission, no non root access, so I fortunately multiple boot so I mounted the Beta 2 filesystem from antiX 23.2, then I removed the directory. You could also boot live, mount the filesystem and remove /root/. synaptic remotely.
