32 bit antiX-25.a2-full for testers

Fantastic! I wish I still had a 32-bit system to experiment with.
Alas, in our modest sized senior living apartment, space is at a
premium and I didn’t have many 32-bit systems to run, so I’ve been
using only 64-bit systems for the past eight years or so.

Running on HP6720s Core2Duo, Live mode. I attach the INXI.

I’m not sure if it’s useful to also list what I tested and that worked, so I add those that didn’t work well.

1. Opening PDF already reported above: qpdfview missing.

2. Opening MP4, this worked in Safe Video mode, but laggy of course, then I get this in normal mode in Celluloid: **No EGL configuration available**, and I have SOUND only, no picture. Opening the same files (tested 3, all MP4), with “Open with MPV media player” they all fully work!

3. When I insert a pendrive, that has EXFAT File system (didn’t test any other but will re-format it if needed), then try to Umount it using zzzFM’s right click on the “Devices” area, **zzzFM Segfaults**. When I start it again, it can umount the pendive. (This closes all zzzFM windows (I think), but keeps the desktop running.)

4. (Next problem exists with 23.2 too, probably 22 too, not sure if it’s hardware issue!) To switch from **headphone to speaker** or back, I need to use alsamixer, and Mute and Unmute corresponding outputs. This is not “automatic” when I plug in the headphone. (I have not used this laptop with other OS, so I don’t know if this is a HW problem.)

5. MOST IMPORTANT: Screen starts **completely dark** after boot, except in “Safe Video” which is OK. To see anything, I need to press “light up”.

Tested and worked well: downloading with yt-dlp, and merging with ffmpeg. zzzFM opening MP3, opens XMMS and sound is great. opening MP4, opens in Celluloid, see above. Firefox works OK. IceWM Manager: adding weather icon, changing clock settings.

Will test on my other laptop too, that one I use daily, also a Core2Duo.

@Kempelen When you uninstall the antix23-desktop-files you see the reason why this package exists 🙂
It is precisely meant to deal with the shortcomings of a mix of different translation states and styles applied by different project devs, maintainers and sources, so what you describe as falling back to the dark age of poorly translated menu entries is expected when removing the antiX translations. Only very few devs or source projects are willing to accept our translations upstream (while we send them whenever possible), so don’t expect to see something different. As said, to fix that mess is precisely the idea of the desktop files package. In whatever style, that decide the translators of the respective language, like you did, knowing best their culture and linguist conventions. In near future we may see different language style packages, if time allows to prepare them.

Another interesting problem with this data pendrive, exfat, 4GB, I list this with steps. To be clear, I’m on Live from a pendrive and this is an EXTRA pendrive that I connect.

– plug it in, it gets mounted and zzzFM opens – OK so far
– umount it in zzzFM (rarely crashes on my Lenovo, but happens here too)
– confirm successful umount in “mount” command – OK so far
– close zzzFM window
– open a new zzzFM window (opens only a “Home” tab)
Actual result:
– the pendrive gets mounted back
– confirmed with both “+” icon in Devices, and output of “mount” command
– same if I explicitly choose a different folder, e.g. the Live root before exiting zzzFM
Expected result:
– I think normally antiX does not auto-mount a still connected pendrive that was previously umounted
– tested on my main PC, antiX 23.2 64bit normal install, and starting new zzzFM windows do not auto-mount the “left-over” pendrive, it remains “-” icon
