Same issue here. Networkmanager is installed including all dependencies.Running beta2 fluxbox dinit. Using Dinit-service-manager
(via controlcentre) I found the service “NetworkManager”, which did not work. I checked “Add” and found the service “networkmanager”,(no uppercase letters)
which I activated and immediately had internet-connection.
Then selected the service “connmand”, removed it and networkmanager was still running, providng a stable network-connection.
I’m very happy, cause connman is absolutely unreliable on my machine.

BassmanI am getting back to Dinit testing and just as you pointed out, the networkmanager service appears to be good and stays connected.

@anticapitalista, that makes a ton of sense. Waterfox works fine when installed from the tarball or as a flatpak anyhow. Better focus on Firefox and then some alternative browsers that fit with the lean and mean philosophy. As Firefox doesn’t. On antiX I prefer to use Palemoon as it is fast and doesn’t hog memory the way Firefox does.

On my dinit testing I am getting the same, left at TTY before runlevel 3. The above solution did not resolve this issue either.

I fail to believe that there was that much of a change that really breaks xfce on antiX with any initI do not think xfce is broken, unless I missed something in prior posts. I am not using xfce but rather LXQT/Openbox, but should be the same process at lightdm.
I think it is boot process not getting to lightdm login.
I just uninstalled the entire turnstile set and remastered. No change in behavior, it still dumps at tty, where logging in and startx gets me to the desktop. So it appears it is not turnstle that is the problem.
This issue with dumping the user at TTY appears to be specific to dinit in my case. s6-66 boots all the way to the desktop, s6-rc stops with a blinking cursor in top left corner after info: service rc-local successfully started seen in VT1.- This reply was modified 8 months, 4 weeks ago by olsztyn.

I remember I was plagued with a similar issue on MX – simply not opening the right terminal window when installing sysvinit alongside systemd

If using lightdm, make sure you have all the service files installed as well ie
runit-service-lightdm
dinit-service-lightdm
s6-rc-service-lightdm

Agree, would like to see Palemoon and LibreWolf there.
Otherwise fine.Firefox esr is a pain to clean up. IMHO Not a good inclusion anymore.

No, it does not…
It looks to me the X session seems on VT1 rather than VT7.

Yes, the way I see it:
– Sysvinit – Desktop session seems on VT1. Sysvinit boots to login prompt, just like dinit. after loggin in and startx deskto session seems on VT1. VT7 is a blinking cursor in left top corner.
– Runit – boots normally. I will check on which VT. Now I am in sysvinit session.
– S6-rc – boots to the blinking cursor. VT7 does seems the same, no desktop session.

I will send some proposed updates to @anticapitalistaFor now:

To follow up I started the runit session and it is on VT7. However just noticed the cpu usage stays about 3-4% with no applications open.
Switched to VT1 and I see the system is in the loop, apparently trying to start certain services, such as ufw. Steady 3-4% cpu continues indefinitely in the loop.
