antiX install frezees at 93%

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, so sorry in advance! I have downloaded it before, but I decided that a fresh install might be a good idea. So I was following SteamPunkTV’s video for downloading antiX. He got to the partitioning of the drive. It was my first time doing it. I made an EFI (512mb), swap (8G. Tried with x1.5 aswell), root with 30G. and the rest was for a DATA (/home) partition. It all went well up until the 93% of the installation. It just freezes and says “Setting system configuration”. I’ve been waiting for around an hour and a half and nothing is happening in the Live Log. Im installing the OS on a HP Pavilion dv6-7000 , 8G. Ram, Nvidia Geforce GT 630m 1G, Intel inside coreI5. Any help is appreciated!

Before installing, update the package repos and upgrade the installer as it fixes this bug.

I tried this MO:”sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade” but got errors during the update about 700 plus days before relevant content would be available, and no change installation freeze at 93%.

Make sure your Internet is working correctly before updating the packages.
If there is a problem, fix it.
Or, install without upgrading but leave the Save changes box unticked.

Additionally to what anticapitalista has already suggested concerning the 700 plus days issue (check internet connection) :
– Make sure your system clock and time zone is set properly before updating.
– Check that the repo mirror you are using is not listed as bad by mirmon. Choose another one working in case.
– Check your diskspace in /var since insufficient disk space in this place can result in a corrupted local apt database copy. Clean it in case, and make sure your dmesg doesn’t show I/O issues for the drive.

Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

Alternatively, iirc, just make sure that the save live desktop changes is NOT selected and it will also complete.

700 plus days before relevant content would be available

Apart from internet connection, setting correct date might help.
You may need to run ‘sudo date -s “<string to set the date>”‘; see output of the command ‘date’ for expected formatting of the date.

If you miss it slightly by mistake, fine-tuning can also be achieved, e.g. example to shift by +1 hour:
date -s $(date +$(($(date +%H)+1)):%M:%S)

HP Pavilion dv6-7000, you should really replace the board battery, The manufacturers
of the Laptop (not HP, they are just a name on the case)have made that far more difficult
than it should be because the device must be disassembled, presumably intended to create
early obsolescence due costs.

If the device is opened it also good to replace the Cooling paste CPU GPU and clean or replace
the fan, carefully clean the heat exchanger fins.

Unless you are experienced a job for someone who is, multiple cables and connectors must be
carefully removed and replaced plus a lot of case screws, some hidden at first.

A repair initiative might be a good partner for the job, if the repair person is competant.
Sadly that is sometimes not the case. Inquiry’s needed. Time for job, should be less than one hour.

@Giko, @abinadi,
There was a post from @anti-apXos (https://www.antixforum.com/forums/topic/antix-26-bugs-known-issues-and-fixes/page/5/#post-199640) who apparently found a solution to the installation problem. I have not tried to install antiX 26 yet (running live so far), but plan to follow this advice when trying the installation.

Questions:
1- Is this solution to the “stall at 93%” problem still valid?
2- Was this corrected in the updated versions of the installer?

I did that (after seeing rsync … being the last line in the live log) and indeed the installation did complete but after rebooting I ended up without any WiFi and was unable to activate it. In the live session the WiFi worked just fine.
So I’ll try upgrading the installer. I am trying antiX 26 on a pretty old Toshiba Portege R500 laptop (previously running antiX 23).
