I hope we can continue developing this XFCE spin even after the antiX 26 stable release. Perhaps we could add a cutting-edge kernel to make it a stable AHS (Advanced Hardware Support) antiX release. Just as antiX Spartan serves older hardware, this respin could be positioned as the go-to option for newer hardware support.

I’ve got it running now and it’s improved. No messages at startup about any missing processes. I have remastered this one now that I’ve put my visual preferences in place. Very nice work!

Der Respin gefällt mir sehr. Er entspricht meinen Vorstellungen, und zwar vollständig. Er vereint nur eine Intit-Datei mit nur einem Desktop: dem Xfce. Der Fenster-Manager ist total weg. Bestens.
Es ist gleichfalls auch perfekt bearbeitet. Eine sehr gelungene Arbeit!! Ich bin einfach begeistert.
Im System ist das Tool ‘hardbenchmark2’ (hoffentlich ist der Name hier richtig) installiert. Die zwei Pakete libvte9 und libvte-common wurden aktualisiert, und nach den Updates bleiben keine Reste. – Der Snapshot, mit XZ komprimiert, ist bei mir 1,3 GB groß; habe nämlich noch einiges nachinstalliert.
Die ISO wurde von mir in einer Virtualbox bearbeitet. Und mit grub-efi-amd64-signed habe ich sie auf der Festplatte meines zweiten PC’s dann ohne jegliche Probleme installiert. Alles läuft zufriedenstellend ab.
Experimente mit Notebook kann ich leider momentan nicht vorweisen. Das müssen hier bitte andere liefern…
Klar ist, es ist auf die Dauer für den Developer unmöglich so viele ISO’s zu pflegen. Diese Belastung ist einfach nicht ewig tragbar. Deswegen ist Init-Diversity bestimmt eine gute Lösung. – Wenn aber doch jemand die private Zeit dafür aufopfert, und eine Distribution nur mit einem INIT, und nur mit einem Desktop (Fenster-Manager verwendet ja antiX selber), entwickelt, ist es für sehr viele User eine geeignete, fabelhafte Bereicherung. – Hier haben wir zwei Developer, die es märchenhaft gut schaffen!! – Man könnte aus dem bereits jetzt genug ausgereiften Respin, glaube ich, eine neue, selbstständige Distribution letztendlich entwickeln. Die nur einen INIT, und den Xfce4-Desktop, führt. Verlaufen sollte man sich nicht, die Dinge sollte man unter Kontrolle behalten, man sollte sich etwa nicht mit vielen anderen Desktops bzw. Tools verzetteln. = Diese Distri sollte man, wenn die Zeit so weit ist, auf die richtige Art und Weise publik machen. Beispielsweise im Distrowatch. Es würde mich nicht überraschen, wenn sie demnächst große Erfolge feiert.

I was working on antiX diag (my future system diagnostics app), which is why I installed hardinfo2. Unfortunately, I forgot to purge it before creating the ISO.
This package may be completely irrelevant for your use case. You can remove it with:

Schicke noch die TXT-Datei als Anhang hier unten, wo man sieht, was ich selber noch gerne installiere. … Unwichtig, jeder ist doch anders. … Nur für den Fall, es würde dich daran etwas wohl interessieren. = Ich beispielsweise brauche den Writer (aber nur ihn!), Xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin (ist sehr übersichtlich, insbesondere wenn die Symbole groß und waagrecht angeordnet sind, die Suchleiste unten), Firefox-ESR anstelle von Google (wenn Google gestartet und erst danach deinstalliert, Cache im Ordner löschen, andererseits geht sie manchmal nicht weg), gThumb, Mystiq, Viewnior, Evince (allmählig veraltet), locales-all (localepurge ist für Debian, man braucht es hier NICHT = alle Sprachen sind von @farmer ohnehin gelöscht, nur Englisch ist geblieben), synaptic, control-centre-antix, repo-manager, advert-block-antix usw.

I decided to INSTALL this software and now I have it on TWO of my systems – the Lenovo Thinkpad T14 Gen 3 system and the HP-14.
Before installing, I remastered the original ISO images. The first time I put the apps I wanted on it. The second time I changed the default user from antix1 to masinick; both efforts succeeded and I’m running now using it.--

Regarding 1) Yes. The various init alternatives do not interfere with one another, but there usually is a “FIRST” init in the boot sequence. When the testing started, the first init was runit. I’ve seen it as sysVinit; to be honest, I’m not 100% positive which one shows up first; I see all of them in my boot loader, so I select the one I intend to use. Sorry I’m not more helpful than that; I’ve seen both sysVinit and runit mentioned as the default.
2) I have not run in VirtualBox so I wasn’t even aware that this introduced other requirements and challenges, so unfortunately I cannot write intelligently about that. Because I installed Beta 1 and Beta 2, I’ve had the menu selections available from the beginning and was completely unaware of difficulties that others were experiencing when using other methods.

I have another (WAY more dangerous) way to do it; hopefully their method is effective.My method involves switching to the root user, then changing the user name, directory names, etc. and then changing ownership of all files and directories involved. This requires an immediate reboot, otherwise neither username is accessible, which is why I say it’s “dangerous”!
Wanted to make sure all of your questions are answered. If not, please let us know; either I’ll retrace and try to respond or perhaps someone else will do a better job than I have; either way, I’m interested in making sure you are able to successfully accomplish the items you mentioned.

This search pageA member in a different thread had asked about LXQT as a desktop environment.
So I tested to see if LXQT could be installed in this iso and how it would run.
I run live USB on this published iso and
1. Installed lxqt (after sudo apt update):
sudo apt install lxqt2. logoff, and pressed F1 to get to startlxqt, and login
As you can see, it works. I am typing this post in lxqt desktop.
Perhaps you can give this iso a try if you want lxqt as desktop environment in an antiX trixie system.
If you want to boot into lxqt, make sure that the
~/.config/slimski.lastused file has the word:
startlxqtGood luck.
