          sudo ufw status
          status: inactive

          sudo ufw enable
          Error; problem running ufw-init
          iptables-restore: line 4, 77, 27 failed
          ip6tables-restore: line 4, 138, 27 failed

          problem running ‘/etc/ufw/before.rules
          problem running ‘/etc/ufw/user.rules

              No, it just give me the option to turn on, but when I close it, it turns back off. It also blocks everything so I can’t use the browser/updates at all.

                You are right, problem is the 4.9.146-antix.1-kernel.There’s already a newer one available.
                Could you open controlcenter -> system -> packageinstallation

                Under Kernel you find the antiX Kernel (4.9.152)
                If you install it , afterwards reboot, the errors with ufw will go away.

                I couldn’t see it, because I have already a newer kernel installed.

                      Quick Note; I ended up switching to the 32bit but still had the problem at hand.
                      I updated to the latest for kernel which says was 4.19.10 but I still can’t seem to get the firewall to stay active. Do I have to leave the program open?

                        4.19.10 is working nicely with ufw here, 64bit, though.
                        What does sudo ufw status say after you close the program ?
                        Also sudo ufw enable ?

                            sudo status is active, but when I go to control center, network, manage firewall its turned off.

                              You have to turn it on.

                              BTW 4.19.10 is not the latest kernel in the repos.

                                The gui of ufw firewall is a little irritating,it looks maybe like it is not active,but it is.
                                If you click on unlock it’s on, or not ?

                                For the kernels, did you already

                                sudo apt-get update
                                sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

                                for to make the system current?
                                Maybe then also the newest kernels will be shown in packageinstaller.

                                  Yes I click unlock and it turns on, but then if I exit out and go back in I have to click unlock again.
