Hello, after installing antiX 26 on my laptop (Macbook Air 2013, I5-4250U, 4GB soldered RAM, 128GB SSD), and running the old kernel (for some reasons the newer kernel won’t work), here are some problems I have been having. Please pardon my bad English.
1. Can’t run some of my apps. For example, I need to run Riseup VPN, Proton VPN. When turning them on, Proton doesn’t work, and Riseup shows Error: “GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown:The name org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit was not provided by any .service files.
2. Sometimes after 3-4 hours, the entire UI of Icewm turns into complete white. Every icon, the tile bar, the menu,… all turns into white and then freezes, requiring force reboot by pressing the power button.
3. Sometimes apps just flashes. It doesn’t crash fully, but flashes for a while and then returned to normal. I was using Falkon, Firefox and LibreOffice when these happens.
4. When freshly booted, most of the time mouse and keyboard doesn’t work, I have to force turn off by pressing the power button and then boot again, only after 2nd boot it works. This happens every time I boot the laptop.
5. Apps also freezes constantly. After apps freezing, then the entire laptop freezes, requiring force shutdown by pressing the power button.Please provide guide. Thanks all very much.

Is there anything suspicious in ‘/var/log/’ (candidates to look into: ‘dmesg’, ‘kern.log’ or ‘Xorg.0.log’) or in ‘~/.desktop-session/*.log’?
Also, do you use the same init (and kernel) as with your previous installation on the same device (that I assume worked well|better)?

I once had an issue with Firefox crashing Xserver and my AMD Ryzen CPU desktop; I did not find a way to resolve it and it went away (hopefully never to return).
Does it happen with Firefox running or even without it running?Both sir. Both when Firefox is running and not running

1.) In the default antiX terminal emulator (Roxterm) : mark the text you want to copy with your mouse pointer. Then press Ctrl+Alt+C
2.) Paste here in the message field by Ctrl+V , mark it, and click the CODE button from above the field.
3.) Send message.Would you like a picture?
No, if it can be avoided. Reason is: Images are hard to read and even harder to search for specific strings in them.
If still trouble with the above, copy the text into a simple text file (using leafpad), then use the archive creator (or File Roller) from within zzzFM to zip the file(s). Then you may attach them to your message.Windows is like a submarine. Open a window and serious problems will start.

Instead of picture and copy-pasting, you can also redirect the output commands into a file, the syntax is ‘command > file’, which redirects standard output (STDOUT, not the errors) to file.

You could try a more recent kernel using a boot parameter.
Since kernel v.5.10+, the SATA controller fails with DMAR faults because option intel_iommu is now ON by default.
You need to disable this with boot parameter
intel_iommu=offRecent Firefox has some instability issues unfortunately inherited by LibreWolf

I advise against it. UngoogledChromium is not affected.I have tried that during installing. Plus I cant use the newer kernel. As I have posted in an another thread, days ago, the newer kernel doesn’t work for me.

The link provided by @Xunzi_23 is very useful because the MacBook Air 6‑1 (11-inch) has exactly the same critical components as your 6‑2 (13-inch): same processor, same Intel HD 5000 graphics, same Marvell SSD controller, same Broadcom Wi-Fi.
The solution to your kernel problem is on this page:
Since kernel 5.10, the « intel_iommu » parameter is enabled by default, which causes errors with your MacBook’s SSD controller. You need to disable it at boot.
Here’s how:
1. At startup, choose kernel 6.6.119 (or a newer kernel)
2. Press E to edit the boot line
3. Add this parameter at the end of the line that starts with linux:
intel_iommu=off
4. Press Ctrl+X to bootDoes the system start? If yes, we can make this parameter permanent.

@floofybread, if « intel_iommu=off » doesn’t work, can you tell us exactly what happens when you try to boot with a 6.x kernel?
Black screen?
Freeze on a specific message? (take a photo)
Endless reboot loop?
Also try this combination of parameters (by pressing E at boot):
intel_iommu=off nomodeset irqpollAnd tell us if that changes anything.

Dear @floofybread,
As for the VPN, I can’t help you because I’ve never used one. I know that many VPNs are closely tied to systemd. So it would be easier for you to use a Linux distribution that uses systemd.
