[solved using maria-db]package dependency problems with mysql-server

Hi there,

I want to install wordpress, following this instruction:
https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/ wordpress

To install mysql-server I used https://keshav.is-a.dev mysql
producing the following error in step 2 :

$ sudo apt install mysql-server

mysql-server is not available on the antiX or debian repo’s.
mysql is the commercial version of mariadb (or mariadb is the the FOSS version of mysql)

Just install maria-db-server & you should be good to go

if someone still wanted to install mysql and getting the same error meesage at the 2nd step of my guide,
you can try to first uninstall mariadb
sudo apt purge mariadb-*
then resume mysql installtion
i think it would be better to add this as a disclamer in the guide.

Since this is related to WordPress installation I ask my questions here.
I’m an antiX newbie and I’m attempting to setup WordPress on the current antiX release.
I’ve successfully installed nginx and mariadb but have not been able to install PHP 8.3 due to systemd dependecy error.
Is there a way to get PHP 8.3 installed?

On antiX 23.x the latest is 8.2. If you really need a newer version, wait for antiX 26, which comes with 8.4 by default. Alternatively you’d have to compile 8.3 from sources on 23.x
