Why should I? antiX 23.2 has always given me that without any prompt. Why should it do so now?
I suppose it some file downloaded with system upgrade which has caused this problem.

Explain your situation more… What you wrote does not sound like any antiX I know…

I have antiX 23.2 Base, software upgraded, (old Bios). No problem other than the initial delay about not getting startup menu.
No additional software loaded.
Also antix 23.2 Core (where I have problem of having a blank screen for not following the last step of Christophe’s advice about backgrounds)$ inxi -F

Christophe, I followed your advice (you know antiX better than me, if you prefer back.png with jwm, there has to be a reason, perhaps something that cannot be put in words).
And happily that has proved successful. I do not get the notice to press ESC now and the boot starts immediately. Then, I changed the wm to my choice, fluxbox, and there also I have not encounted any problem.
Somehow antiX seems to prefers back.png as background, and I have no problem with that. Actually I like it better than antiX3.jpg.
So, many thanks to you for the tip.
(However the other problem with the blank page and inactive mouse pointer remains. If a solution is not available, I will probably reinstall the Core correctly)- This reply was modified 1 month, 3 weeks ago by aupmanyav.
