IMHO You should take your list of apps, sit with an AI- like the free one in Duck-Duck-Go. Tell the AI what you like in the windows world and ask it for recommendations from the Debian or broader Linux world. Test out the recommendations and see what floats your boat.

Please learn how to ask for help here on the antiX forum by reading the topics I indicated in my genuine welcome. Please note that there are 4 editions of antiX, series 21 or 22 (based on Debian 11), 23 (based on Debian 12) and 26 (based on Debian 13), that have technical support on this forum. In 21, 22 and 23 edition has 4 ISO images (full, base, net and core) and 26 has 2 ISO images (full and core) in different types of boot systems. If my sum is not wrong, at the present date there are about 52 different types of operating systems. That is why you need to learn how to ask for help here on the antiX forum.

Can I recommend the YouTube channel I created exclusively with the intention of helping people who are new to antiX?

Go to YouTube, search for “antiX Linux em Português” (without the quotation marks), and when you access the channel’s videos, watch the videos in the correct order, that is, from the first video to the most recent video.

To read the subtitles in your language, turn on the subtitles, then click on the gear, Subtitles C/C, Translate automatically and click on your language to activate the automatic translation of the subtitles.

The texts you will read are automatic translations that are offered by YouTube from my texts in Brazilian Portuguese.

According to what 4 or 5 people of different nationalities have told me, “yes, it is possible to learn from the channel’s videos by reading the subtitles in my language”. (The antiX Linux in Portuguese YouTube Channel has Subtitles on All Videos)

Hi and welcome to antiX.

You already got pretty good advice above, but let me chip in:

You don’t mean you want “programs compatible with windows” – in this case you seem to want (if I understood you correctly) software that is similar and/or does the same tasks as Onedrive and TotalCommander.

When using a new Operating System, it helps to think in a more general way, so you could say this: you want a program that can access Cloud storage and a File Manager with a dual pane window.

Like previously said- you can use the On-line interface that every Cloud service, including Onedrive offers via Internet browsers. But I have to use Onedrive at work and I think you want a way to automatically backup and sync files to that particular cloud service, like the official Microsoft Onedrive app does. As far as I know, there’s really no app that does that. You can use antiX-Cloud to set up your Onedrive account and use your cloud drive just like it was a pendrive plugged to your computer and copy files between your device and the cloud using antiX’s File Manager (there are several, the default File Manager is called ZZZFM- yes, Open Source developers tend to like strange cryptic names, including Skidoo, that developed that one).
You also like File Managers similar to TotalCommander – you can “goggle” that, but zzzfm can be easily setup to have dual panes, side by side, if that’s all that you want. If not, please check out this list: https://alternativeto.net/software/total-commander/?platform=linux

Please, to get some general ideas about Linux and how to use antiX, read the non official FAQ’s, available here in the forum. They were made to help people transition from other systems to antiX, answering the usual questions I know most people make when they start to use Linux (and specially antiX).

If you need help performing any kind of configuration or installing something, feel free to ask here, but, please do try consulting the non official antiX FAQ’s before, ok?

midnight commander is very similar to total commander. It comes preinstalled on antiX, just run ‘mc’.

By the way, for those who do NOT want the assistance of AI for anything, DuckDuckGo still has a way to do that; the EASY way to implement it is to start with a “slightly different” URL: If you don’t mind seeing the AI results and are willing to “look around them”, you can still use https://duckduckgo.com. If you don’t want to see ANY AI results at all, you can use https://noai.duckduckgo.com/

Personally, I tried the Brave Web Browser in the past. I personally have OTHER issues with Brave; to me, it seems to send you in directions IT favors, probably due to “arrangements” with certain companies; no thanks; just give me results; I feel more comfortable, AI or not, with DuckDuckGo personally.
