            Updated Privacy Edition after the primary antiX 23.2 Full Runit;
            now I’m here with init-diversity; double checked sysVinit and
            it’s back to normal, so I visited dinit; same.

            I’m not going to go through all of them today; did that exhaustively yesterday.
            All seems well here once again;
            Networking came right up with sysVinit and dinit.

                Same basic information, now have an alias to use; both of these are with the sysVinit.
                One reason I’ve been coming to this one is that during the recent issues, sysVinit and
                OpenRC weren’t working correctly; they are doing fine now.

                FYI here is my alias definition:
                alias mw=’~/bin/mem.bash’

                And here is mem.bash, in case anyone is interested:

                cat mem.bash
                ps ax | head -2; sudo ps_mem.py; wp

                Finally, this is “wp”:

                cat wp
                pinxi -zv4xxxzopy68

                Of course this could be organized differently, this is simply the way it’s evolved for me.

                I’ll probably end up incorporating pinxi -zv4xxxzopy68 into the script next; that’s what’s
                nice about shell scripts; they can be used as a “proof of concept”, then either improved
                or rewritten; if it’s a time consuming, CPU intensive task it can be programmed; otherwise
                scripts can just be rewritten better, and that only takes a few minutes and can be modified
                as often or as infrequently as you wish.

                    “On runit while updating. Because sysvinit boot lost conman. ”

                    @anticapitalista provided a solution to this which helps sysVinit and OpenRC;
                    double check in the init-diversity thread, but I believe that
                    copying connman and dbus directories from
                    /etc/init.d
                    will solve your problem:
                    cd /mnt/etc/init.d; sudo cp -R connman dbus /etc/init.d

                    I put /mnt to indicate that you copy the connman and dbus directories
                    from a live system to the /etc/init.d directory of the system you’re using;
                    you can ALSO do this by copying from one antiX distro to another IF
                    you MULTI BOOT, which is what I do.

                    I think @ProwlerGr also created a workaround so this doesn’t keep
                    happening, but if not, THIS also works to prevent it happening:

                    sudo mv /sbin/ruit /sbin/runit-bak

                    … do your changes, then …

                    sudo mv /sbin/runit-bak /sbin/runit

                    What WAS happening is that our runit packages were conflicting with
                    some of the diversity package dependencies, and because of it, portions
                    were getting overwritten; one of them was the location of the connman and
                    dbus directories for a couple init alternatives that use sysVinit for process 1;
                    these happen to be sysVinit and OpenRC.

                    Look back a few pages on the init-diversity topic and you’ll see the answer.
                    Also, @ProwlerGr informed me that in his very first post he DID tell us to do
                    this so we wouldn’t see this problem, but a few of us either missed or forgot
                    his instruction to us, so the lesson for all of us is to carefully read the
                    instructions before we proceed. Anyway, between @ProwlerGr and @anticapitalista
                    there are some solutions to fix these issues; check a few pages of that thread
                    to locate the specifics.

                      Booted up one of my runit computers. Don’t see them. Fixed the update problem with resetting time zone.

                        Rok, there are a couple of ways to fix this; you have LOTS of computers. Grab one that doesn’t have init-diversity on it and go to /etc/init.d Look for connman and dbus directories; you should see them on that system.

                        Snag a Flash Drive or some media to copy the directories dbus and connman onto the media, then take them to the init-diversity system, then copy the dbus and connman directories from the media to /etc/init.d; that’s the solution; make sense?

                          I see that the computer you used above doesn’t have these directories. I’ll look on one of my other systems and see if I’m wrong, but that was how I fixed my own problem; I’ll get back to you to confirm this. Thinking about it, I think it has to be one of your “sysVinit systems; do you happen to have one with JUST sysVinit?

                              “mw” is my latest alias for mem.bash, a script I added recently to make it unnecessary to recall (or re-create) a group of commands that I run nearly every day. I’ve already scripted one or two of them; now I put all of the group of chained commands together in one script, called by an alias with a shorter group of characters; mw is the alias, mem.bash is the script:

                              alias mw='~/bin/mem.bash'

                              cat ~/bin/mem.bash
                               ps ax | head -2; sudo ps_mem.py; pinxi -zv4xxxzopy68

                                  By the way, the @calciumsodium method of creating an asound.sh file, configuring privileged commands allowed to run with sudo and using the pulseaudio -D and a volumecontrol – look up either his method or my script using it to see the exact steps – has indeed proven to be 100% reliable for producing sound, regardless of which res pin is used; this way turns OFF pipewire and wireplumber and it’s been working well for me.
