Got my Ungoogled Chromium audio working by applying the tricks that CalciumSodium shared; I put them into a script and fixed one defect that I hadn’t resolved, and now with a quick run of the script, audio works in any application of choice, including Ungoogled Chromium, which I’m running now. I just checked out a YouTube Video of Brad Stevens, Boston Celtics General Manager, talking with reporters about what went well and what led to the early first round loss in this year’s NBA Playoffs; sound was fine.

I recently reinstalled a Slackware Current instance, and in this one I have slackpkg, so I can regularly update the software.
I’m using it now as I pass through my distributions, updating them as I go. I was successful in tweaking antiX 26 to allow audio to function in a greater variety of situations, so I’m happy with that!

Back to antiX after a brief visit with Enveavour OS to check it and update the latest packages. They’ve had the Version 7 kernels available for the past week or so.

Okay, I’m done with my updates and I’m BACK with antiX 26, confirming with several YouTube music videos that once again the video capabilities ARE here, sound and motion.

what’s the meaning of “mw # ” you enter before sending ps_mem output?
Also sometimes i see you used pinxi , but I can’t find out how to install it?

                  $ apt-cache policy pinxi
N: Unable to locate package pinxi

Let's accept antiX as it is
Pure and Elegant by its nature

I have shared about both items in the past in this thread but I don’t expect you to go hunting for them.

                    1. mw is simply an alias for a simple script that writes the date, followed by sudo ps_mem.py, which is an antiX script located in /usr/local/bin. That’s followed by two additional commands, ps ax | head -2 and pinxi -zv4xxxopy68.

                    2. Now the expansion and explanation: The antiX script provides several of the running processes and the amount of memory they use. The pinxi is the development version of the inxi information tool. The options are that I generated a level 4 information report with a lot of extra details (xxx). The op adds the partitions and the y68 generates a 68 column wide report.

                    3. The wget tool can be used to acquire your own copy of either inxi or pinxi. The downloaded versions are from Version 3.3.40

                    wget -O inxi smxi.org/inxi
                    wget -O pinxi smxi.org/pinxi

                    Option is a capital O.

Hope that answers your questions. If not, explain what is unclear or missing.

There is yet another Liquorix kernel update so it’s tracking with the nasty problems that are challenging the safety and security of our systems recently.

I also was careful to adjust my $PATH environment variable – put /usr/bin first, then /sbin and /usr/sbin, then /usr/local/bin and then my personal directories.

I’m using my Dell Inspiron 5558, the last of my systems in need of kernel and browser updates. I should complete this today, so the next time I use the systems, though they’ll need updating again, at least they’ll be up to date as of today.

Sometimes I drive a crooked road to get my mind straight.
I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.
                                  Motorcycle racing is rocket science.
