Rebuilt the system using the bash script and my Flash Drive backup of my main system; now it’s looking like I prefer.
Tried runit first, though that’s just what my base contained; it’s intact; I’ll check the others next.

Thank you for the feedback @calciumsodium – no need to be sorry – this is exactly the type of feedback we need in order to squash any bugs.
I will have a better look & see if there is anything missed.
I haven’t enough tested how the final iso-snapshot installs – just that it boots as I created it from a “perfectly” working system.
See if
sudo apt reinstall init-diversity-tools s6-66-init-diversity
fixes the s6-66 & reboot/recovering journal issues on your running system.I will need to look at runit connman I have the impression the /etc/resolv.conf doesn’t get created/updated at runit boot.

I haven’t enough tested how the final iso-snapshot installs – just that it boots as I created it from a “perfectly” working system.
See if
sudo apt reinstall init-diversity-tools s6-66-init-diversity
fixes the s6-66 & reboot/recovering journal issues on your running system.I will need to look at runit connman I have the impression the /etc/resolv.conf doesn’t get created/updated at runit boot.
The above commands fix:
1. The boot problems for s6-66. I can boot to desktop now. Sound is good. Wifi is good. Reboot is good.
2. Reboot/shutdown for openrc is good now.

Also, I see that xrdp service did not start properly after this change during boot.

I’m not really sure what caused the error, but I made my scripts super conservative in the updated version (prepending the sync command & changing runlevels & adding a 3 second pause before the reboot/poweroff commands).
Typically the reboot/shutdown/poweroff commands should do this automatically but I guess it might not be so smooth on older systems.Well I’m glad it works…

antiX with runit - leaner and meaner.
I will need to look at runit connman I have the impression the /etc/resolv.conf doesn’t get created/updated at runit boot.
Yes, the /etc/resolve.conf symlink does not get created.
The /run/connman/ folder does not get created.
You can see that connmand is up.
Please see screenshot.
What I have tried to see if I can fix this:
1. I tried to reinstall all runit components:
sudo apt -y reinstall runit-init-diversity runit-service-connmand runit-service-slimski runit-service-dbus runit-service-udevd runit-service-managerSame problem.
2. I tried my usual trick in my multi-init systems where the /etc/sv/slimski run file depends on dbus and connmand to try to get connmand to start before slimski.
This did not work.
This new runit is very different than the previous ones.
I am stuck. This problem is more fundamental.
I am also attaching the sudo dmesg of the runit boot, if this is of any use.
