@Xunzi_23 has also often suggested “Privacy Badger” or “LocalCDN” (but not both installed together).
@Xunzi_23 seems to prefer LocalCDN, but I use Privacy Badger for convenience.Regarding LocalCDN for UngoogledChromium, it seems no longer possible to easily grab it directly
as a download.

On my second setup, I have the Chromium Update Notifier, the Chromium Web Store and Ublock Origin.
Chromium Web Store is also suggested by @Xunzi_23 in the part I ommitted from the quote in my previous post.

Please elaborate. I am not certain what you mean. As for what I’ve added to the browser, as noted previously, I have the Chromium Update Notifier, the Chromium Web Store, Adblocker for Yahoo Mail, and uBlock Origin or uBlock Origin Lite (different ones on different systems).

This search pageI hadn’t investigated ungoogled-chromium completely, and didn’t realize that the sync functionality was all hooked to google services. I will investigate Brave and Vivaldi and see if they can sync. I have different laptops I use for different tasks, and its very convenient being able to sync the browser bookmarks, passwords, tabs and settings from one to another as needed. I’d also like to get screen casting working, since currently I can only do that with Devuan and I like watching podcasts on the bigger TV screens. I use very little of google services except their search engine and occasionally google drive. I haven’t found any other search engines that return as many sites is why I use it.

Okay, I understand what you mean now. Yes, Ungoogled Chromium (and most Web browsers these days) have one or more mechanisms to import, at a minimum, the bookmarks from other browsers. Some Web browsers can copy an entire environment, ranging from bookmarks to logins to certain cites and more; Ungoogled Chromium users generally do not want to bring in any tracking information from other tools, so they tend to shy away from most of that, but you can import whatever you wish if you have those intentions; Ungoogled Chromium won’t “assist” you to do that because of it’s purpose; otherwise you’re better off using Chromium or Google Chrome in those cases; the trade-off is that those browsers want to collect as much information about what you browse as possible – a huge no-no for ung and friends.

Now that I have my Ungoogled Chromium Update Notifier (and at least a couple of other lightweight extensions, I should be able to keep “up to date”, with or without our “announcements”, though I think they are a good idea, in case we can get a few more people using this browser.
What I really like about Ungoogled Chromium in addition to the Privacy features is the size and feel; it ALMOSTS brings the “Chrome” experience back to what it was when Google Chrome first became available – light, fast, and efficient. For today’s systems, it definitely is exactly that and I can use it for MOST of my regular activities, and most certainly for reading Yahoo Mail, GMail, and browsing the antiX Forum. Those three areas probably comprise 90% of my regular activities, especially if an entire week is considered when evaluating such things. Version 146.0.7680.164 (Official Build, ungoogled-chromium) (64-bit) has been excellent in the day or two it’s been available.

I’m a Brave user, but wanted something lighter for antix26. I tried Librewolf, but meh. I had used ungoogled-chromium on another ancient laptop maybe a year ago with antix23 and liked it. I just don’t remember it so hands on to update and maintain. And the extensions … never before have I done that, like I did today. I’m never opposed to trying/learning something new, but I do do more than my far share of fumbling around. I am quite enjoying it… its been doing everything I’ve asked of it today. Its my only installed browser now, so I’d better like it. 🙂

I’m glad it worked for you Larry. As you may know, Google Chrome gets updated quite often; in fact, in the past two weeks, they had not only their regular update, they had either two or three rapid updates because of security related updates: either they implemented their update insecurely or there were multiple new types of intrusions that they were forced to quickly implement. As a result, the “Ungoogled Chromium” images – those that REMOVE the Google callback functions – still had to be updated too. The Chromium Update Notifier at least makes it easy to identify when there is an update.

There is YET ANOTHER Google Chrome update: Version 146.0.7680.177
so we’ll be seeing Ungoogled Chromium updated soon.I think it was this morning that my Ungoogled Chromium icons lit up; turned out one of the 3-4 plugins I added had an update; hopefully I’ll see my browser update indicator light up soon for the next “ung” as I call my images.

@andfree I have the Chromium Update Notifier installed now, so as long as I am running Ungoogled Chromium and not something else I see the new notifications now – (I do sometimes use Firefox; on occasion there are things that render or are supported better on another browser) but I do use Ungoogled Chromium for the majority of my browsing because it’s lighter and faster than Firefox or Chrome (not to mention SO MUCH more Privacy Oriented and respectful of user information).

Made it executable, updated the toolbar icon, had to log out/back in for the icon to work. ‘.177’ works perfectly. All my tabs opened to their prior arrangement; bookmarks intact and both extensions still there.
