I think it was this morning that my Ungoogled Chromium icons lit up; turned out one of the 3-4 plugins I added had an update; hopefully I’ll see my browser update indicator light up soon for the next “ung” as I call my images.

I just wanted to highlight the fact, mentioned a few times at least, that there’s an extension available for Ungoogled Chromium that informs when updates are available. So both plugin extension updates and browser updates can be highlighted by update icons – these are light, useful extensions.

Today is our last full day in Boston.
We’re leaving tomorrow; taking two days to drive home. Tomorrow is the slightly shorter portion of the return trip.

As far as Ungoogled Chromium, it’ll probably remind me on most of my systems now that I have the update add-on in place.

Assuming a safe return trip, things will be “back to normal” on Monday!

Made it safely home around 6 PM EDT; as expected, as soon as I started Ungoogled Chromium, the Chromium Update Notifier let me know that there was a new version 3 days ago, so now it’s updated. I also had an update to one extension that I use. Both are now up-to-date.

I believe there is another Google update “in the wind” somewhere; as of this moment the links I noted above remain the current Ungoogled Chromium version. The most current update was 5 days ago; all the more reason that “we are due” for another update. I also have the Chromium Update Notifier on my Ungoogled Chromium; it’ll let me know when a new version is out there; in the interest of promoting these “less intrusive” instances of Chromium, which are also slightly smaller, leaner, and faster, this thread helps to notify those of you who do not have the notifier on your browser.

Yes, a new browser will be coming soon; on Cachy OS, I updated and Chromium Version 147.0.7727.137 (Official Build) Arch Linux (64-bit) appeared today; we’ll be seeing the Ungoogled Chromium equivalent SOON.

My Android phone and tablet are up-to-date. My wife’s Chromebook already has the fix; I updated it for her earlier, before I read about the critical security update. My Chromebook did NOT have an update available earlier but I just checked and applied the change.

I’m going to check Ungoogled Chromium again; if a change isn’t there tonight I’ll check again in the morning.

This is a critical security fix. Ungoogled Chromium better JUMP on this one RAPIDLY!

IF affected. Pls remember Ungoogled project has removed a lot of “google extras” so
may not need to update in a hurry.

We should never forget google is one of the most important parts of the us spying on
the entire world network of tools. It was founded by and presumably still is a CIA
subsidiary. See Alphabet and further history for details.

147.0.7727.137-1 is available as source code but no binary build presently available.

I’m using something else until a binary is available. I have an up to date Librewolf for an alternate choice in the meantime.

Anyone ever tried the Firedragon web browser? It’s a Firefox fork, but seems to behave more like a chromium fork. https://gitlab.com/garuda-linux/firedragon/firedragon12

Reminds me of Vivaldi a bit. Also claims to have a lot of the Librewolf privacy/security hacks.
